Having heard so many wonderful things about The gorgeous Tythe Barn wedding barn near Bicester, we have wanted to do a shoot there foreverrrrr, and so we were delighted when Kayleigh and David asked us to do their wedding photography there this August. Here are a few of our favourite shots.
Over 600 years old, the thatched barn has been beautifully restored and still keeps many of its original features, making it one of the most characterful wedding barns we’ve seen for a long time. Couples have the choice of holding their ceremony either inside or outdoors and when I saw the inside of the barn set up for the wedding ceremony, I knew exactly why Kayleigh had insisted on saying their vows indoors, despite being one of the hottest days of the year. It is a truly magical setting.
The whole place exudes calmness and serenity and I feel really happy to be here as I head over to ‘The Nook’, the specially designed suite for the bride and bridal party to get ready. Hidden away ‘The Nook’ is a delightful little cottage with everything a bridal party needs. Salon style mirrors, a dressing room and even its own little courtyard where the girls giggled as they peeped through trees to see the wedding guests gathering on the other side of the fence.
You can tell that the team at The Tythe Barn have done this before as everything runs so smoothly and the whole day is super relaxed. We are spoiled for choice with photos, the barn is full of wonderfully different textures to use as backgrounds, stone, wood, the beautiful green orchard and our favourite spot today, the shepherds hut. Yes this venue even offers the bride and groom a romantic hideaway to spend their wedding night in, imagine waking up here, simply gorgeous.
And it’s not just us that fall in love with the place, chatting to the guests they are all very impressed by the venue, not a detail has been missed. I was even advised by one guest that I should head to the men’s toilets and take a photo of the infamous urinals which were quite the talking point for the men in the party. Unfortunately this area will have to remain a mystery to me.
As dusk falls, even more fairy lights appear, adding to the dreamy vibe of this place and providing us with even more juicy photo opportunities. After sneaking in a few cheeky sparkler shots at the end of the night we head home excited to get downloading and have a look through our photos.
