Picture this. 5.30pm on a Thursday afternoon, flustered and slightly late after racing up the M40 to Warwick and getting stuck behind a collision, tired from a 6.30am start and a busy day; praying that the battery on my phone navigation will last long enough to get me there, I hurl toward the entrance of Wootton Park like my life depends on it.
Almost immediately I am overcome with a delightful sense of calm. The long driveway to this countryside retreat is surrounded by farm and woodland. The only noise is the sheep nibbling away in their pasture and that hectic day I have had up until now seems a million miles away. I can see why Liz and Ben fell in love with this place as soon as they saw it. With the wedding only a matter of weeks away I am excited about this place already. Here are a few shots from the engagement shoot to give you an idea of how gorgeous this place is.
Wootton Park has an overwhelmingly relaxing vibe and whilst there is a definite sense of remoteness and being away from the hustle and bustle, the wedding venue is warming, pleasant and stacked with quirky facilities. Not only do they have a wedding boat but there is also treetop glamping pods and a water sports centre for the active and outdoorsy couples. Liz and Ben giggle as they tell me they might get on the wedding boat on their wedding day. I think that it’s unlikely but it’s a unique addition to this pretty venue. I mean I have seen venues with rowing boats before (the beautiful Ardington House is a favourite of ours), but not usually where the happy couple are allowed to use them and NEVER without the supervision of a skipper, this is so cool.
Located only a few miles from Henley in Arden, Wootton Park is a gorgeous space for either an indoor or an outdoor wedding. Weather permitting the ceremony can take place on the romantic lakeside setting or indoors where the large windows give the rooms an open, spacious feel. The gardens and surrounding countryside mean that everywhere I turn there is a new, spectacular background. A photographer's paradise, I can’t wait for their big day!
After a beautiful walk around the venue Liz and Ben take me to the glamping pods. Set high up in the treetops and fully equipped with barbeque, firepits and hot tub… as if this place couldn’t get any cooler. I am mentally booking a tree pod for my won wedding anniversary next year as we look round. They explain to me that the venue has its own salon on site, kitted out for a full bridal party and designed stylishly. I am looking forward to shooting the bridal prep shots in this huge, brightly lit room. There are loads of mirrors to play with, yeeeeeessss!!
I can't wait to come back here in September and spend the day with this gorgeous couple in this magical place.
