Our Irish wedding photography adventure began on a Wednesday afternoon at the imposing Trim Castle (well actually it began about 6 months before via skype when Jess & Dave booked us to shoot their wedding). We met at Trim Castle because it wasn't too far away from where Jess & Dave live, and it's a stunning backdrop for a pre wedding shoot. Even though this was just a few days before their wedding, it was well worth getting together, just to have a chat about the wedding, and generally just shoot the breeze and get to know each other a bit better, and, of course, to get some really cool pictures. We've been booked for another wedding at a hotel by Trim Castle next year, can't wait to go back here.
So a few days later it was wedding day at The Lodge Ashford Castle in Cong, Galway. And what a beautiful day it was. The Lodge Ashford Castle is in a fairytale location with lakes, rivers, castles and mountains all around. Jess & Dave had a humanist ceremony, followed by drinks on the lawn in the warm sunshine overlooking Lough Corrib. After a few family photos we hopped in a few cars with the bridal party and went a mile down the road to an old monastery by the river for some more photos. Later in the evening their was live music and Irish dancers. The dance floor was full all night, and the bar staff didn't get a chance to catch their breath, these guys know how to party.
I don't think we ever had such a long day at a wedding, I took my last picture at about 3:30am. I'm certainly not complaining, we had such a blast, who'd have ever thought that work could be so much fun.
