ALEX & BEX AWESOME DIY WEDDING
We knew that this was going to be a gorgeous wedding to photograph when we met Alex and Bex for their pre wedding photoshoot. Alex runs the stylish Cotswold Taylor Boutiques and Bex is a primary school teacher armed with loads of crafty tips learned from years of teaching arts… the place names and table plan she designed were fun and looked great.
In the morning I found Bex and her chief bridesmaids calmly putting together the flower arrangements. Having the wedding at her parents’ house in Witney meant that not only were the couple able to save on venue costs but also the wedding venue had a special meaning to the bride and felt lovely and personal.
Meanwhile over at a The Corncroft Guest House, the boys were getting dressed into their supercool socks and waistcoats, courtesy of The Cotswold tailor. I’ve never seen this many groomsmen and they certainly rocked the tweed look and they were great fun to photograph.
The church in North Leigh was packed and a beautiful ceremony was followed by a fantastic performance from a barber shop band, another unique twist to this quirky event. We liked the fact that although Alex and Bex didn’t want loads of posed photos, they had chosen a really cool location on the way from the church ceremony to stop off and take 5 minutes to have some nice bride and groom photos before the party started!
Some of the things we really like about this wedding reception were the quirky personal touches such as the DIY trailer photo booth, the beautifully prepared spicy favours and the very British ‘steak and chips’ sit down dinner.
Not to mention the guest of honour Ciara who was the star of the show in her own designer tweed wedding collar!
So we stayed late into the night and we were thrilled that we did as later on the glow bands came out, we love a bit of retro festivity!
A mixture of contemporary, classic, retro and shabby chic, all fused together perfectly made for unique wedding event full of thought and fun.
